Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival

What was the last movie you watched? With so many genres, there are movies that appeal to all of us. Whether it’s opening a door into a life you never got to live or exploring an incredible new world, movies provide us with the opportunity to experience it. These unique characteristics of cinema have enabled it to entertain, inspire and educate us for decades.
With the huge impact cinema has in shaping and developing our culture, why not check out a festival dedicated to honouring superior films. This is the exact goal of the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival, also known as the People’s Festival. Established in 1989, this event was mainly attended by locals – who at the time came from a mine-oriented community. Even then this three-day event was a success. With each passing year, the event has continued to grow, drawing in people from surrounding cities and even other countries.
Today the Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival, screens upwards of 125 films to the 34,000 attendees that come through. Cinéfest Sudbury International Film Festival is one of Canada’s premier film festivals and will be running from September 16–24, 2017. The films that are shown include full-length features, shorts, documentaries and animations.
