It may come as a surprise to some, but Sudbury is a great vacation spot. I have put together a short list of fun things to do, but this is just scratching the surface. There is so much more to do and see that can ever be described in one blog post, so you’ll just have to see it for yourself.

If there is one thing that Sudbury does not lack, it is lakes. With a total of 330 of them, it’s difficult to choose which to go, see and enjoy. Vermillion Lake is located just outside of Sudbury and it’s a fly trap for anyone that loves nature. With its beautiful views and active wildlife, it’s a great place to bring your family for some fishing and swimming fun.

2. Check out some haunted houses

Did you know that Sudbury is home to the most abandoned communities in Ontario? Locations such as Ramsey, an abandoned community, and Sellwood, a famous ghost town, are a fun way to bring some diversity into your day. If you’ve ever wanted to see what it’s like to be in a ghost town, look no further. This is also a great opportunity if you’re a photographer or a lover of the paranormal to immerse yourself in an experience you will never forget.

3. Spend the day at the Art Gallery of Sudbury

If you’re a lover of art or if you’re interested in a family friendly experience, stop by the Art Gallery of Sudbury and learn something new! The museum holds some of Canada’s most beautiful art, and it also offers classes for children and adults to learn more about unleashing their inner artists.

4. Go back in time at the Sudbury Basin

The Sudbury Basin is a major geological structure that is sure to make your trip to Sudbury well worth it. The Basin is a large crater that was made by a bolide, which is an extremely bright meteor. It spans over 62 km long, 30 km wide, and 15 km deep. If you’re in the mood to explore an ancient crater then you’re in the right place. This is an experience of a lifetime.
